You know college is the right choice for you, you're sure that you want to pursue a higher education, but you just don't quite know in what field yet. Many people come into Biola University not sure of which major to choose. Sometimes because they can't pick between two or three of their passions, or because they simply want to experience a variety of classes before deciding on one major! Whatever the case may be, Biola University welcomes students who decide to enter college as an undeclared major.
As an Undeclared student at Biola you have the opportunity to get a good start on your general education requirements, and to start working through your 30 units of Bible classes, while you decide on a major. Our Academic Advising Center is available for you to come in and start the process of deciding which major is the best choice for you. Also it will be important for you to make time to meet with the Faculty Advisors for each Major Department that you are interested in. It is recommended that you plan a clear schedule of general education/Bible courses early so that you can focus on your major courses as an upperclassmen, once you have chosen a major.
There are no special admission requirements for being an Undeclared student.
We do not recommend the undeclared major for Torrey Honors students or students considering any Science major, Nursing, Art, or Business. Due to the heavy demands of the major coursework for these programs, undeclared students who eventually choose these majors may need additional time to graduate. Furthermore, while we invite undeclared students to be intentional and deliberate in discerning their major, every student should choose a major by the end of their third semester at Biola so that he or she may complete the major requirements in a timely fashion.
