Bible Bridge Program

Are you transferring to Biola but worried about how much time it will take you to finish the rest of your degree? The Bible Bridge program is specifically designed to help incoming transfer students get a head start on the Bible minor as well as build lasting relationships with other transfer students. You will have the opportunity to complete 6 credits (2 classes) of the required 30-credit Bible minor in just 8 weeks of coursework at a discounted price before the fall semester even begins!

General Information

Courses: Students will be placed into a cohort where they will complete two of the four introductory Bible courses.*

Students registered for the first cohort will take:

  • Biblical Interpretation & Spiritual Formation (BBST 103 - 3 units)
  • Old Testament History and Literature (BBST 109 - 3 units)

Students registered for the second cohort will take:

  • Foundations of Christian Thought (BBST 105 - 3 units)
  • New Testament History and Literature (BBST 110 - 3 units)

*Upon request, a student may choose to take only one course

Dates: Distance curriculum for these courses is from July 6th to August 14th, and the on-campus coursework will occur from August 17th to August 19th.

Eligibility: The Bible Bridge Program is available only for students who:

  • have been accepted to enter Biola in Spring 2015* or Fall 2015,
  • are incoming transfer students with more than 12 credits of college-transfer coursework (not AP or IB), and
  • pay the Enrollment Deposit and program cost by June 1st.

*There are a limited number of spots for students entering Spring 2015.

Curriculum Details

All four of the classes being offered in this years Bible Bridge Program are required for every Biola student as part of the 30-credit Bible minor. Students registered in either cohort will be earning 6 credits and making equal progress towards completing their Bible minor.

Due to the fact that these classes are condensed, they are very academically intense. Students in the past have estimated that at least 5-6 hours a day is required, especially during the distance portion, to complete the assignments. Students in the past have stressed the importance of giving absolute priority to these classes during the distance portion because of how intense the workload is. Remember, you are taking two full classes in a short amount of time, so make sure you give this enough time. I would highly recommend that you not be involved in other jobs, camps, or volunteer work during this intense time.

Textbooks: All textbooks will be available through the Biola Bookstore.

Program Cost and Registration

Tuition cost for both courses is discounted to be 33% less than the normal summer tuition price, a savings of over $1,200! Although housing will be free for students living on-campus during the Fall 2015 semester, the cost for your meal plan and books is not included in the tuition price.

Whether you are just interested in the program and want more information about it, or you want to register, fill out the Bible Bridge Form. If you are ready to register, just select "I want to register! Sign me up!" when filling out the form.

“Bible Bridge made the transition to Biola so much easier. Although there was a lot of work at times, I was able to get a better feel for the school as well as develop relationships with the other students and the professors - all while getting credit for Bible classes!”

-Danny Pinnell (2011 participant)
