Bible Bridge Program
Are you transferring to Biola but worried about how much time it will take you to finish the rest of your degree? The Bible Bridge program is specifically designed to help incoming transfer students get a head start on the Bible minor as well as build lasting relationships with other transfer students. Students have the opportunity to complete up to 6 units of the required 30-unit Bible minor in less than 8 weeks of coursework at a discounted price!
General Information
Courses: Students will be placed into a cohort where they will complete two of the four introductory Bible courses.*
Students registered for the first cohort will take:
- Biblical Interpretation & Spiritual Formation (BBST 103 - 3 units), Dr. Joanne Jung
- Old Testament History and Literature (BBST 109 - 3 units), Dr. Dave Talley
Students registered for the second cohort will take:
- Foundations of Christian Thought (BBST 105 - 3 units), Dr. Jason Oakes
- New Testament History and Literature (BBST 110 - 3 units), Dr. Matthew Williams
*Upon request, a student may choose to take only one course
Dates: This program is a hybrid course that is split between distance coursework and a one week on-campus seminar. Distance curriculum for these courses runs online from June 25th to August 3rd, and the on-campus coursework will occur from August 13th to August 17th.
Eligibility: Students who can participate are incoming Fall 2012 transfer students who have been accepted to Biola University and have submitted their enrollment deposit by June 1st. You may only participate in this program before your first full semester at Biola.
Curriculum Details
All four of the classes being offered in this year's Bible Bridge Program are required for every student as part of the 30-unit Bible minor. Students registered in either cohort will earn 6 units towards completing their Bible minor.
Due to the fact that these classes are condensed, they are very academically intense. Students in the past have estimated that at least 5-6 hours a day is required, especially during the distance portion, to complete the assignments. Students in the past have stressed the importance of giving absolute priority to these classes during the distance portion because of how intense the workload is. Remember, you are taking two full classes in a short amount of time, so make sure you give this enough time.
Textbooks: Students will be informed about these when they register for the program. All textbooks will be available through the Biola Bookstore.
Program Cost and Registration
Tuition cost for both courses is only $2,219, that's a savings of over $1,100! You do not want to miss out on the opportunity to receive so much Biola Bible credit for such a low cost! Although housing will be free for students living on-campus during the Fall 2012 semester, the cost for your meal plan and books is not included in the tuition price.
